in honor of Andrew Phillips
Andrew (Andy) Phillips - Always one to create and live his dreams to the fullest, Andrew Lindsay Phillips, beloved husband of Dawn Grainger and treasured father of Mitchell and Grant, died suddenly on Saturday, January 23 doing what he loved, flying the aircraft he built. Son of Dorothy and Fred Phillips, brother to Liz and Justin, son-in-law to Don and Diane Grainger, brother-in-law to Nicole Phillips, Darla McDonald, Thor McDonald and Darren Grainger. A creative mind and independent thinker, Andy built two stunning houses, a thriving business, a plane that was also a work of art, and, most importantly, a wonderful family. Always calm in any crisis, Andy was the family ballast and go-to person for any kind of advice. Wise and funny, Andy could talk to anyone and put them at ease. He was a joy to be around. We would like to invite you to help us celebrate his life Saturday January 30th, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Classic Wings Hanger (Russ Beach) Smiths Falls Airport, Roger Stevens Drive. For those that wish, please consider a donation to the In Trust Fund for Mitchell and Grant Philips.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes Carp Chapel.
Andrew Phillips, 43 of Carp Ontario, was killed when his airplane went down southwest of Ottawa.
CTV News has reported Andrew Phillips was taking a 200-kilometre trip from Lindsay, Ont. to Smiths Falls when his aircraft went down in a heavily forested area near Madoc on Saturday. He was taking the trip with two other civilian airplanes at the time of the crash.
