in honor of Paul Deering
The pilot of the small plane that crashed in Labrador last week died doing what he loved, said his wife, Kerrilynn Deering.
Paul Deering loved the freedom of the sky and was a skilled pilot, she added.
"He always knew he wanted to be a pilot. He always wanted to fly," Kerrilynn said Monday from their home in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The 38-year-old father of three - including a baby girl who was born May 21 - was flying his twin-engine Piper aircraft from Happy Valley-Goose Bay to Cartwright Wednesday morning when it crashed into the side of a hill.

Share A Memory : I'll always remember Paul from both Notheran Arms and Twin Ponds Salvation Army music camps. Always had soemthing to say, always making us laugh - whether it was during a prayer, a meal, a band practice.. didn't matter where we were, Paul always had a wise joke to tell. You'll be missed..

Kerrilyn (& kids), Eileen, Mark, Jennifer and all of Paul's many friends and family. The world surely lost a great man last week but heaven gained an angel. Words cannot express my deepest sympanthy for your loss. I have not left a memory of Paul as there are to many to recall. I have not seen him for years and that is surely my loss. In fact the last time I recall seeing Paul he came to my aid. It was a dark rainy cold night and I was walking down main street on my way home. Paul passed by noticed it was me stopped turned around and picked me up. That was Paul. He was always full of life, kind hearted and generous. He will always be remembered as such. I pray that you find comfort in your memories and in each others presence. My thoughts, prayers and love to you all. Paul you will be missed dearly. May you rest in peace and enjoy your new wings. RIP dear friend. Gone but never forgotten.
